THE CHALLENGE
Design a concept that showed the passing of day to night without using a clock or hourglass.
I used a silhouette of a tree as a starting point and then flipped it on its side. From there, some interesting shapes emerged. Drawing upon memories of favorite Japanese prints, I anchored the edges of the design with a simple sun and moon shape, using the sparest of forms to create a composition.

The design needed to scale well for a variety of assets including tshirts, posters, banner ads and web graphics.
The client was able to reuse the same design for a second year by adjusting the color palette and some of the design elements.
